Crops have long been under threat due to the changes in weather, wine is no exception.
Drier summers and colder winters play havoc on harvesting. You may not be that into your fruit and veg, but what about wine? The wine industry may be negatively affected by a lack of eco ethos sooner than expected.

Climate change induced drought means a lack of water means a change in picking habits. Some vineyards are picking their crop as much as six weeks ahead of schedule, meaning a less ripe and full tasting grape and therefore wine.
Aside from the increased temperatures, there is also an increased level of pollution in the atmosphere, with studies tracking the distribution of carbon dioxide in wine growing regions. The shift will result in a change in photosynthesis abilities of plants. It has been reported that “Raised atmospheric carbon dioxide is also known to decrease the stomatal density of some grapevine varieties.” in a recent study of the effects of carbon dioxide on the grape vine.
