Have you ever traveled to a hot country and been sat out in the sun wondering how the human race managed to survive before air conditioning was invented? Well even on certain London summer days we have been thankful to the Daikin gods but there are some tips and tricks to survive out and about if you are planning a winter break away somewhere that doesn’t forecast snow.
One of the most important ways to survive the sun without air conditioning cranked up is a good outfit choice. Now we know that every street is catwalk and every corner a selfie opportunity, but traveling means you have to dress smart not just Instagram worthy. Choosing breathable light fabrics such as cotton rather than synthetics will be a great help, while also opting for a loose fit rather that tight will have you comfortable and sweat free. Think Arabian goddess not nightclub hottie for a little inspiration against the perspiration on that one, unless it is a Diddy themed all white party with ciroc..all white club attire it is, but still opt out of the fitted look.
Another great tip would be to choose your food wisely. Although hot countries like India, Egypt and Turkey thrive on hot spice fuelled dishes, eating a curry over a salad is a poor choice in extreme heat. The advice here? watermelon and cucumbers are your friends and a chicken rogan josh might taste amazing but will leave you sweaty, dehydrated and in desperate need of an ice cream.
Last on our list and possibly the most controversial, avoid cold showers… yes we said it. If you don’t have air conditioning and you are trying to keep cool than a cold shower might offer temporary relief but it will cause your body to over produce heat later to warm back up. Go for a lukewarm rinse instead and feel refreshed for longer.
